The sequel to Rainbow Studios' debut PlayStation 2 effort, ATV Offroad Fury 2 expands upon the original by offering new courses, riders, mini-games, modes, and online play. As before, players are expected to compete in a series of races in various indoor and outdoor disciplines, with the sole aim of beating fellow competitors to the finish line. Inherent to these courses are all manner of jumps, series, and rhythm sections that can only be effectively navigated using a technique known as pre-loading. By quickly flicking the control stick down then up before a jump, it's possible to gain a lot of air. When competing in a Championship, players will find themselves participating in Supercross, Enduro, and Nationals events, each of which requires a different style of play and skill. Other modes of play include Lap Attack, Practice, and Freestyle. The first sees competitors vying for the fastest course times, while Freestyle charges players with attaining the highest possible score by performing tricks and stunts.USED VIDEO GAME _x000D_\n_x000D_\nAs you progress through the game, new equipment such as helmets, gloves, bodysuits, goggles, and boots can be unlocked, in addition to tracks and vehicles. Different makes and models are offered, so players are sure to find an ATV with the right balance of suspension, turning, acceleration, and top speed to suit their needs. The multiplayer aspect of the title now offers i.Link, split-screen, LAN, and online play. Complementing the standard racing competition (players can race against a mix of human and CPU competitors if desired) are mini-games such as King of the Hill, Tag, Hockey, and Treasure Hunt, the last requiring players to find and collect tokens strewn about the environment. The title's soundtrack consists of a number of licensed songs by bands, including Alien Ant Farm, System of a Down, Korn, Logan 7, and Garbage.
